Sam McCready was eccentric but it was very effective as a spy in the age of the iron curtain. Now his character became the target of denigration from a bureaucratic system which regulates the present office. In the recollections of the days when he was a hero, all of which could be developed into colossal novels, the author emphasizes the contrast between a young officer which is not very different from that of Detective Frost and Mullet.
