イラストは素敵だし夢もある。でも内容に夢がない。　　（2005-09-20）
陸にあがったかえるからお話を聞いて、魚が人間やら動物の想像をするところはユーモラスでかわいいし、イラストも夢があって、ほどよくプリミティブ。芸術性が高すぎないのもいいとおもう。

でもタイトルどおり、魚は魚。かえるはかえる。
魚は所詮どうあがこうと陸では生活できない。
というお話が好きになれなかった。

小さな子供って、ものすごくいろんな可能性を持っていると思うのに、魚は魚。君は君。所詮この枠は超えられない。
と教えられているようでなんだか、夢がないし、ちょっと悲しいエンディングでした。

この本を読むと身の丈を知れ。とか、分相応に。とかそういう言葉を思い出すけど、可能性の宝庫の子供に読んで聞かせるのはつらい。
毎日読んであげる気にもなれず、本棚の端にいます。

Sunny and lighthearted, always beautiful, Lionni`s colorful illustrations work hand in hand with his tale of two friends who grow up and find they are very different and must live in different worlds. My sons and I were especially taken with the whimsical images of Fish`s impressions of life on land, conjured from Frog`s descriptions. This must be one of his best; we highly recommend it.
